Blogger is hosted by Google and by far one of the easiest and quickest ways to create your own weblog and its free! It recently came out of beta testing and is better than ever. Even if you have no technical skills you can navigate about the dashboard and easily develop a professional looking site. Whether a novice or old hand, blogger can be put to task. With blogger, as you become more comfortable with building upon your basic knowledge, you will find that there is as much here, or more, than other hosted sites that charge a recurring fee. Blogger help page though, is a bit cumbersome. There are help topics and articles that the beginner will find helpful once you arrive on topic. For the advanced blogger there are some great sites that allow you to penetrate deep into blogger and modify or add some great stuff. One note, some first time users are not sure if their new weblog is being published. Google may index you right away or take a few days.
To log into Blogger you need a free google account first.
Typepad is another free and easy webb log hoster(click here). Starting out is fantastically fast and easy. The dash board takes a little time to get comfortable with, but once you do, you wouldn't have it any other way. This is a great site for the beginner or professional. It has upgrades available that allow multiple webb logs, bandwidth and advertising. I use typepad because of its file uploads, stat monitoring and side bar accessibility. Typepad has many third party add ons that easily meld into your site.
Typepad is always busy working on cutting edge upgrades.
Wordpress is another free, quality blogging platform. There are two, wordpress.org and wordpress.com. Wordpress.com is the free site mentioned here. Be advised it does not allow you to post ads. The people who use wordpress are always singing its praise. It is easy to sign up and get going. It has many extras that make this site valuable to its members such as easy to use side bar additions, advanced configurations, integrated stats, many writing options and much more. One feature important to many are its advanced privacy and spam features. Many like to post some things private and some public and some public but not indexed. Wordpress allows you to mix it up. Another aspect that sets wordpress apart from others is its community. The wordpress community is second to none.
